The northern part of Greece was chosen this year for Easter, by Bulgarians, for their holidays. Arrivals from Bulgaria increased by 8% compared to last year, thus confirming prognostic data.

According to the director of the NGO Institute for Analysis and Estimates in Tourism, Rumen Draganov, their interest remained unabated, even if the weather was not favorable.

“Our predictions on booking hotels in our country and abroad were fully confirmed”, he stated. According to information, 280000 Bulgarians spent Easter holidays while 110000 others traveled abroad.

“Compared with our predictions, travel to Greece increased by 8%, corresponding to 6000 people”, stated Mr. Draganov.

Finally, he added: “Northern Greece is the preferred destination for Bulgarians. Tourists enter Greece relatively close to where they live. 90000 people crossed the borders from Greece during Easter, 60000 of which came for tourism purposes. The Easter “package” in our country is estimated at around 255 leva (128 euros) and includes two nights and Easter lunch. The average tourist visit to Greece reaches 550 leva, plus transport fees”.
