The Telegraph listed Karavostasi in Epirus amongst one of the best unsung beach holiday retreats in Europe. Journalist Marc Dubin said that “you have to really want to get to Karavostasi – tucked away several kilometres off the main coastal highway between busy Syvota and Parga – but the journey is worth it.” The area is cradled between two headlands and offers visitors a glimpse to the tip of Corfu on the horizon and the capes of Syvota to the right as well as Paxi. Meaning “stopping place of the ship”, Karavostasi is definitely a place that is far from the maddening tourist crowd.

Mr. Dubin, a travel writer, says that the area combines natural beauty with culture. In antiquity, the area was a navigable bay rather than the beach it is today. It is worth leaving the scattered seabeds that line the beach to head to the environmentally protected area at the north end and the ancient ruins at Dymokastro.
