Data released by the Thessaloniki Hotels Association shows that there were 123,208 more overnight stays in the cities hotels during the first six months of the year compared to last year, an increase of 15.68 percent.

The city’s hotel association tracked the nationalities of foreigners who visited the city in the first six months of 2014. Here are the top ten:

1. Cyprus – 44,935 overnights (41.46 percent increase from 2013)

3. Russia – 33,940 overnights (4.92 percent decrease from 2013)
4. Bulgaria – 23,534 overnights (28.71 percent increase)
5. Germany – 23,533 overnights (43.46 percent increase)
6. Italy – 20,202 overnights (3.27 percent increase)
7. Serbia & Montenegro – 18,947 overnights (34.7 percent increase)
8. Libya – 18,674 overnights (64.91 percent increase)
9. USA – 17,409 overnights (17.59 percent increase)
10. Romania – 15,674 overnights (14.93 percent increase)
