An increase of 27% in visits and 21% in revenue recorded 38 major archaeological sites of the territory in the quarter April to June of 2014, compared with the same period last year.
According to figures cited by the Archaeological Resources Fund Receipts, archaeological sites record increases which exceed even the 60%.
Indeed, according to the naftemporiki.gr, in some months, some areas seem to record double on visits, for example the Hadrian’s Library with an increase of 151% in the quarter.
According to the president of TAP, Mr. Theodoros Soubasis, this development is due to the broader recovery in tourism, and the extended opening hours in 38 major archaeological sites(8 am – 8 pm).
