Ukrainian travel operator News Travel stopped sending clients to vacation destinations on January 17, 2015, according to an announcement published on the agency’s said on its website.

“Among the reasons for this involuntary decision is a dramatic decline in demand and the purchasing power because of a sharp increase in forex rates and the negative political situation over the past year,” the announcement says.

Moreover, the agency stated that all the tourists who are currently abroad will be given a return ticket to Ukraine.

This development is expected to have a negative impact on Greek tourism, as the agency offered travel packages to many Greek destinations, such as Crete, Rhodes, Kos, Halkidiki and Corfu. Cyprus was also very popular among the agency’s customers.

It is reminded that this is the second hit Greek tourism receives in the last months, as many Russian tour operators were forced to declare bankruptcy last summer, costing Greece’s tourism industry thousands of euros in bookings.
