A warning clause inserted by discount carrier Ryanair, accompanying the price of air fares to Greece, states in yellow print under the actual fare: “The price may change due to currency conversion.”

However, the company flatly denied that this is linked with rekindled media speculation over a “Grexit”, but rather the caveat concerns the price and conversion rate due to the euro’s fluctuations with other currencies.

The image circulated on the carrier’s Greek-language website and generated a firestorm of reactions, before an explanation by Ryanair citing the fluctuating rates between the euro and other major currencies — USD, Swiss franc, UK pound etc.

The warning was detected on every Ryanair website servicing travelers in other European countries.
