The legendary Caprice of Mykonos has shut down and will be no more… Manager Nikos Gryparis closed down the iconic club after losing the legal battle with owner George Zisimopoulos who wants to give it over to his children. A new bar will operate in its place, under a different name as Gryparis has the rights to the current name.

At noon on Tuesday, the current owners handed over the keys of the coveted club to Zisimopoulos after clearing it of the equipment and their personal items.

As a farewell of sorts, a huge party was held outside the front entrance, running – as always – to the early hours of the morning.

The decision to seal the famous club has torn Mykonos in two with half the islanders demanding that the club remain under the current owners who – as they say – have the “know how” required to run this living advertisement for the island. The other half state that fair is fair and the owner of the club should be allowed to do with it as he pleases.
