Hey tourists! Why such bad behavior in Greece?

Sunday was World Tourism Day... but badly behaved tourists are forever!

Newsroom September 28 11:42

Tourists help out tax dodgers!

The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) reports that 2014 data shows that the figures don’t add up when comparing tourist arrivals with Greek hotel stays. It appears that many tourists prefer illegal accommodation that they find on sites. This is a major headache for authorities as tourists choose to stay in facilities where owners practice tax evasion.

Breaking antiquities!

Despite surviving thousands of years, artifacts painfully kept in pristine condition may crumble as tourists climb statues to take selfies or break off bits of souvenirs to take home. There were the two Russian tourists that damaged a wall of the Acropolis while doing parkour, while another woman ruined a priceless treasure of Minoan Civilization that was on display at the Archeological Museum of Heraklion when she collapsed on an amphora, breaking it to pieces.

Oversexed and drunk!

Sex competitions by Swedish teenagers at Faliraki in Rhodes, to debauchery by drunken Brits by the beach. For some inexplicable reason, tourists just can’t stop stripping down in Greece.

Eating rare delicacies!

There was the family that came to Greece from the United States and found an rare six-legged octopus while on vacation. They wacked it on the head and then ate it… but felt sorry afterwards when they were told of the rarity of the creature they had found.

Holier than thou attitudes!

A group of angry French tourists entered the archeological site of Lindos, Rhodes, demanding to enter without paying for admission. They climbed to the top and called for free access to the citadel on account of France being among the EU creditors offering Greece its bailout. “We own you!” they said.
