Greeks line up for “Black Friday” discounts (photos-videos)

Deals you can't afford to miss

Newsroom November 24 04:40

Greeks were queuing up from the morning hours of Friday to take advantage of the huge price discounts offered by many retail stores across the country on occasion of the introduction for the first time of the US-holiday discount called Black Friday. Many major retailers are offering shoppers great post-Thanksgiving deals of up to 80% off their regular prices. Some of the big names participating in this year’s shopping frenzy are Public, River West, Media Markt, Factory Outlet, Gap, Οysho, Germanos and Plaisio.

Public, which sells electronics, electronic games and books, is promoting the PlayStation 4 (500GB Slim) with two games and one controller at 299 Euros (down from 439 Euros), and the Xbox One (1 TB), billed at 439, at the knock-down price of 199 Euros.  Gap, as per its FaceBook announcement, is offering 25 Euros off every purchase over 100 Euros.  The McArthur Glen discount mall has a wide range of clothing and accessories shops that will be offering super low prices, and will be opening its doors to the public Friday morning at 8:00 o’clock, sharp.  River West, Factory Outlet, Jysk — the Danish household goods retail chain, whose Black Friday will extend to Cyber Monday — and the Prince Oliver clothing chain, will all be offering unprecedented bargains.  There is also the electronic goods retail chain Germanos, which has announced that it will be offering savings of up to 60%.

Black Friday is a shopping day traditionally held the day after Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November). Since 1932, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in America, and most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) with promotional sales.
