Eurogroup has agreed to short-term relief measures for Greece’s debt

Measures to be implemented in the following weeks, says Klaus Regling

Newsroom December 5 09:07

The Eurogroup’s lengthy meeting regarding Greece’s debt relief concluded shortly before 20:00 GMT in the wake of the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung‘s revelation that Berlin is pressing to extend the 3,5% primary surplus for another ten years, which had been agreed for Greece until 2018.

Verifying the first unofficial reports, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Pierre Moscovici and Klaus Regling have announced that the finance ministers of the Eurozone have reached an agreement on the short-term relief measures for Greece’s debt.

Earlier, the international news agency Reuters had suggested that reaching an agreement at today’s Eurogroup meeting should not be considered likely given that another meeting between the Eurozone finance ministers on the Greek issue will be taking place within December and a new round of discussions by January 2017.
