A strong earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit at 6.00 on Tuesday morning in Ikaria.

According to the Geodynamic Institute of Athens, the earthquake was centered on the sea area 20 km northwest of Ikaria, while the focal depth was estimated at 17.5 km.

A few minutes later a new seismic vibration was recorded measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale, which is characterised as “weak”, and was recorded at 06:09 in the sea area 23 kilometers northwest of the city of Ikaria, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.
