Thessaloniki: “Strange” sound disturbs the suburbs every night! (audio)

Newsroom January 15 04:31

The “strange” and deafening sound that disturbs the inhabitants in the evening in the area of Meteora, Polichni of the municipality of Pavlos-Mela in Thessaloniki is not related to the water pipeline the water company of the city (EYATH) says.

This was the conclusion that emerged from the checks carried out by an company’s technical team on Thursday night in the area. Specifically, as EYATH sources report in ThessToday.gr, the team went to the area. At 21:50′ in they heard the sound and according to their first estimates it is not due to the water network.

However, the source of the sound was not easy to determine and it appears that it comes from the opposite side of the area, namely the forest of Seih Sou.

As stated to ThessToday.gr the Deputy Mayor of Immediate Intervention and Civil Protection of the municipality of Pavlos-Mela, Akis Arapoglou, will address the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and will ask for help from the relevant departments.

“Since EYATH is not related to the origin of the sound, we will ask for help from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. From what the EYATH crew, with whom we were in the area on Thursday night, told us, the sound comes from the forest of Seih Sou”, he pointed out.

“The origin of the sound is still unknown and it certainly scares the residents. The investigation continues and we hope to locate the source”, stressed the vice-president of the Citizens’ Union “Meteora”, Nikos Papadopoulos.

It should be reminded that, according to the testimonies of the residents on ThessToday.gr, about a month ago, from midnight until the early morning hours, residents heard an annoying sound that is sounds louder at the junction of Kifissias and Acropolis streets.

“At the intersection of Kifissias and Acropolis streets, it sounds louder, as if the focus is there. When we are at the point where it sounds loud, we feel like someone is hitting something. We are all afraid because we do not know where it comes from. There are people who wake up from the sound 2 and 3 o’clock in the morning. For example, yesterday at 5:30 in the morning, I was awake and heard it”, describes the first resident who reported the sound, Vangelis Kokacheilis.

At the same time, Ms. Anastasia Lampada, a resident of Meteora, explained that those who live on the ground floors hear the sound in their home. “Many families can not sleep at night. Now, it has become more intense and more annoying. When can even feel the sound”, she described, emphasizing that this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately as no one knows what can happen.
