The Greek public opinion has been shocked with revelations that a 37-year-old priest, father of three children, was reportedly raping a teenage girl from late 2019 to mid-2020.

The priest has been arrested after the girl, 17, told her parents who in turn filed a formal complaint to police.

The horrific details of the teenager’s experience are coming to light in her deposition, as she told authorities at one point she fainted from fear at the sight of the accused priest.

According to sources, the priest had initially asked the girl, who he had approached at Sunday school for nude photos, while he himself “bombarded” her with pornographic material and photos of his genitals.

According to reports, the accused would rape her after confession while telling her “In my face, you will see the face of your father and teacher”.

The priest serves at a church in Kato Patisia and the police of the Juvenile Protection Sub -Directorate have been monitoring his movements for ten days now after the complaint of the little girl and her parents.

Yesterday afternoon, following an arrest warrant, the 37-year-old was arrested for rape, sexual intercourse with minors, child abuse, and child pornography.

The case file was submitted to the Athens Public Prosecutor for Misdemeanors, who referred the case for the main investigation. A warrant was issued against the man, under which he was arrested.

Meanwhile, more revelations are coming to light about the accused, as another girl, 19, who lives in the area, has told protothema.gr that in November 2020 the specific priest had approached her, offering her money to go somewhere alone and spend some time with him.
