The Greek Foreign Ministry calls on Greek citizens to leave Ukraine

It concerns about 2,000 Greeks in Ukraine & it does not include the Greek minority of Ukraine - Dendias to visit Moscow

Newsroom February 14 12:11

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Greek citizens to leave Ukraine.

In a statement, the Greek Foreign Minister states that it “strongly discourages all travel throughout Ukraine”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advises Greek citizens who have not already left to immediately report their contact details to the Greek Embassy in Kiev.

In the event of negative developments in Ukraine, the Greek government is preparing for all possible scenarios, especially in terms of food security.

Nikos Dendias is expected to go to the Russian capital next Thursday, February 17.

The next day, Friday 18 February, a meeting of the Greek Foreign Minister with his counterpart from the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov is already scheduled.

The Dendias-Lavrov talks in Moscow come at a time when escalating tensions in Russia’s relations with the West are raising concerns not only about the Ukraine problem but also about a number of other issues on which European Union countries depend on Russia, like the natural gas, the prices of which have climbed to an all-time high.
