Three firefighters injured as fires rage in Ilia and Atalanti (video)

Efforts to contain the fronts are ongoing

The Fire Department has mobilised forces to contain two fronts in Ilia in the west of Peloponnese and Atalanti in Fthiotis on mainland Greece.

In Ilia, there are three fronts, with forces doing continuous airdrops, as the flames have reached the houses.

The fire has burnt many acres of crops and agricultural lands.

115 firefighters with four ground units, 36 vehicles, six aircraft, and two helicopters are operating in the Agnada area of ​​Ilia.

According to reports, containing the fire is becoming quite difficult, however, officials say it is positive that the forest in the east, and southeast is oak and not pine.

Three firefighters have been injured while trying to extinguish the blaze.

One, a deputy firefighter, suffered burns to his arms and legs and was transported for treatment at the “Agios Andreas” hospital in Patras.

As reported by the local media patrisnews.com, according to the head of the Department of Civil Protection of the Municipality of Ilia Vangelis Christoforou, a bus was requested to evacuate residents of the village, while as he pointed out, great efforts are being made by the fire department to limit the front, but strong winds are hindering their attempt.

According to the latest reports from local media, the fire is moving towards the settlements of Rodia and Louka.

In Traganos, the second fire front, 38 firefighters, one group of pedestrians, 14 vehicles, and two helicopters are operating.
