Turkey violates Greek airspace 80 times – Three dog fights ensue with Greek F16s

37 were committed by F-16 fighters and 43 by unmanned UAVs

Newsroom July 26 07:22

Turkey has escalated its provocations against Greece, as 80 violations of Greek national airspace were reported by Turkish aircraft over the Aegean Sea.

In total, 37 were committed by F-16 fighters and 43 by unmanned UAVs.

The peak of the Turkish provocations came on the heels of inflammatory statements made by the Turkish president who attacked the Greek prime minister, claiming that… he does not know the Treaty of Lausanne. At the same time, he again raised the issue of demilitarisation of the islands.

Seven F-16s and two UAVs flew in formations over the Hellenic national airspace, with four aircraft being armed. The violations resulted in three dog fights with Greek F-16s, while all were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules, as is standard practice.
