"We achieved our goal of extending the tourist season"

Newsroom December 20 09:02

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about the great come back of Greek tourism in 2022, which acts as a trigger for growth for the Greek economy and gradually achieves the expansion of the tourist period.

The Prime Minister was spoke at the event for this year’s report in the sector, adding that in 2023 the “prospects of the industry are brilliant”.

“We are gradually moving towards a 12-month season and we have every reason to be able to make it happen and if there is one area where the numbers accurately reflect the truth it is tourism, with measured revenues and arrivals.

This year’s data can definitely allow us to talk about the success and great come back of Greek tourism.

Arrivals by the end of the year will be at 88% of 2019’s record number, while revenues will be about the same, perhaps even higher, so there will be an additional at least 3 billion euro added to the €15bn forecast for 2022, creating resources for the economy, businesses, for society itself.
