PM Mitsotakis speaks at YgeiaMou Conference – Modern Human-Centered Health System (video)

Mitsotakis said the elections will be held on time

Newsroom February 28 07:15

PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke at the Ygeiamou conference titled “Modern Human-Centered Health System” where he said: “I am not concerned with what is happening in SYRIZA with the Polakis case. The issue is not Polakis, but the mentality that Polakis reveals, “Polakism”, as he called it. “The main exponent of Polakism is Mr. Tsipras.”, he noted.

Commenting on the upcoming national elections he said: “I believe that we have a good chance of being independent in the second ballot.” He explained that the simple proportional majority electoral system had dangers. “Enhanced proportionality is a system that Mr. Tsipras used twice to get elected and stay in government.”

He added that all constitutional provisions will be observed stressing that the elections will be held in the spring.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that his administration was practically running out of four years. “The announcement of the elections will be made on time. Many journalists did not predict that we will exhaust the four-year period”, he added.

On the issue of public sector salaries, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said reform was forthcoming, including healthcare, from 2024, stressing that “A 10% salary increase does not cure the problem of brain drain among doctors.”

Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out out the very encouraging future of digital technology in the field of health, “the possibility to monitor the course of health through technology, e.g. wearing a watch to measure sugar, without piercing. It is enough that the patients themselves are sensitized. By prevention and not by treatment.”

On the issue of shortages of wards in the Greek public health system, Mitsotakis claimed: “I think that the way we deal with the issue of ranches shows our philosophy. There is an issue in the regional hospitals, we need to do more, for the nursing staff, and for the basic infrastructure. There are NSRF resources, from the Recovery Fund, but they should be used properly.”
