Outrage over Athens Teacher who showed 5th graders sexual content between teenage boys

Parents have filed a report to the Education Ministry

Newsroom May 24 03:14

Parents are outraged after it was revealed that a primary school teacher in Athens showed her 10-year-old students content of boys having sex.

The case came to light when one of the teacher’s students returned home in a miserable psychological state and reported to his parents everything that had happened during the lesson. Upset by the bad psychological state of their child, the parents reported the teacher’s actions, and the family’s lawyer, Charalambos Katsivardas, who took over the case, as he told protothema.gr

“The parents of the boy who filed the report are educators and were upset when they saw their child coming home from school last week in a miserable state. The child was in a state of shock, he was vomiting and his psychological state was disturbed. The parents were trying to understand what had happened to their child and when they asked him, he told them:

“The teacher, in the 4th hour of the lesson, showed us a film entitled: “Boys in the Shower”. The content of the film had adolescent boys in sexual situations while taking a shower and there was also a trainer in the film who told them to become men and toughen up,” says the family’s lawyer to protothema.gr and continues:

“As you can understand, this film shocked the 10-year-old student as well as the other students and angered the parents. That is why the case has taken the course of justice. The issue is not homosexuality but that the screening of the film was done without the slightest interdisciplinary approach or prior information about such sensitive, crucial, and thorny issues. Last Friday, we notified the court of appeals to the Ministry of Education in order to check the initiative of the teacher for showing this kind of film and to let us know whether this film is educationally approved and pedagogically compatible with the Ministry”.
