Horror in Pennsylvania: They kept their 6-year-old daughter locked in a cage and fed her dog food

Police officers raided the family's home

Newsroom February 12 07:14

Parents are accused of keeping their six-year-old daughter locked, even naked, in a dog cage, giving her dog food. Jacob William Way, 37, and Mimi Ann Frost, 33, are facing multiple charges, including abuse.

The investigation began on February 6, when police officers visited the couple’s home.

When they arrived, they found the house in a squalid state, littered with trash. The child’s father initially called an ambulance after his 6-year-old daughter suffered a seizure when one of the other children living in the house tried to give her a bath.

The children told officials that the 6-year-old was living in a dog crate and was being beaten with a broom. In fact, the father did not allow officers inside and drove the 6-year-old out of the house himself.

The little girl’s body was covered with open wounds. When she arrived at the hospital, she was found to be suffering from hypothermia. “The girl was staying in this cage naked without food.

She was punished if she left that cage to go get some food,” the prosecutor said, adding that there was evidence that “at least some” of the other children were involved in the abuse.

Police found eight dogs and two cats in the home, which they described as a “madhouse” in court documents.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl told a psychologist that she was forced to eat dog food and sleep in the cage every night.

In addition to the beatings, she said her father shot her in the legs with a BB gun.
