The US Ambassador spoke about the upcoming visit of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the US, saying that Greek-American relations are at a historic high

Newsroom March 15 03:57

The US Ambassador to Greece, George Tsunis, spoke about the beauty of Thessaloniki and the prospects for economic growth at the conference “Greece Talks_Thessaloniki.

Mr. Tsunis referred, among other things, to the strategic geographical role of Thessaloniki and its religious, economic, cultural and geographical advantage.

As he said, the visitor does not just relive the glory of the past, he lives a modern experience and witnesses a region that we aim to make it a capital of extroversion.

At the same time, the American ambassador, who also has Greek roots and speaks Greek, said that Thessaloniki is the city in Greece with the greatest opportunities.

“It is a coastal city with a large port and the city center is 20 minutes from the airport,” he said, adding that “Thessaloniki is a city for visitors to walk around.

But also a city that has something for everyone.

Anyone who wants nightlife can find it, anyone who wants gastronomy can find it.

There are museums, concerts, culture, everything.”

“People in the US have rediscovered Greece although there is always room to do more,” he said, adding that “one example is golf as an activity, many people prefer Greece’s climate for the sport and it is an opportunity to think about the opportunities from that perspective.”

In closing, Tsunis was also asked to respond to the upcoming visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the US, saying that Greek-American relations are at an all-time high.

“Mr. Biden, whether you call him Bidenakis or Bidenopoulos, he loves Greece,” the American ambassador said.
