March 25th: Traffic regulations for the parades in Athens and Thessaloniki

The parade in Athens starts at 11:00 and in Thessaloniki at 12:15 where traffic regulations are also in place

The military parade in Athens for the national anniversary of March 25th will begin at 11:00 a.m., in the presence of state and political leadership, while in Thessaloniki at 12:15 p.m., the parade of students, politicians, and military units will start on Megalou Alexandrou Avenue, ending at the White Tower.

Until noon, both in Athens and Thessaloniki, traffic regulations will be in effect due to the parades.

All traffic regulations for the military parade in Athens:

Traffic regulations will be implemented today, Monday, March 25th, in Athens for the military parade held as part of the national anniversary celebration.

As announced by the Hellenic Police (ELAS), the detailed traffic regulations are as follows:

Temporary and gradual interruption of vehicle traffic, as well as prohibition of parking and stopping from 06:00 onwards until the end of the military parade on the following streets and roads and their perpendicular ones up to the first parallel road:

  • Vas. Sofias Avenue, from the section between Vas. Konstantinou and Vas. Amalias Avenues, in both traffic directions.
  • Her. Attikou, along its entire length.
  • Vas. Georgiou B’, along its entire length.
  • Vas. Amalias Avenue, along its entire length and in both traffic directions.
  • Eleftheriou Venizelou (Panepistimiou), along its entire length.
  • Omonia Square.
  • Peiraios, from the section between Omonia Square and Iera Odos, in both traffic directions.
  • Athinas, along its entire length and in both traffic directions.
  • Ag. Konstantinou, along its entire length.
  • Karaiskaki Square.
  • 28th October (Patision), from the section between Eleftheriou Venizelou (Panepistimiou) and Leof. Alexandras, in both traffic directions.
  • Th. Diligianni, from the section between Karaiskaki Square and I. Metaxa Street, in both traffic directions.
  • Syntagma Square.
  • Filellinon, along its entire length.
  • Stadiou, along its entire length.
  • Leof. Syngrou, from the section between Am. Frantzi and Dionysiou Areopagitou Streets, in both traffic directions.
  • Akadimias, along its entire length.
  • Ath. Diakou, along its entire length and in both traffic directions.

Temporary and gradual interruption of vehicle traffic, as well as prohibition of parking and stopping from 06:00 on Monday, March 25th, 2024, until the end of the events at the Holy Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, as follows:

  • Mitropoleos, along its entire length and its perpendicular ones up to the first parallel road.
  • Aeolou, from the section between Ermou and Adrianou Streets, as well as its perpendicular ones up to the first parallel road Ermou, from the section between Plateia Asomaton and Aeolou Street.

During the above-mentioned time periods, modifications will be made to the routes of public transportation. ELAS appeals to vehicle drivers for their better service and avoidance of additional traffic problems, to avoid passing through and parking their vehicles on the above-mentioned streets, avenues, and squares during the specified time periods and to follow the signals and indications of traffic police.

All traffic regulations for the parade in Thessaloniki:

MONDAY (25-03-2024):

  1. From 03:00 until the end of the parade, parking and stopping will not be allowed on the following streets of the city:
  • Leoforo Megalou Alexandrou.
  • 30th October.
  • Leof. Stratou, in the section from 3rd September Street to Kautatzoglou Street.
  • Unnamed Road east of Elektriki Square, connecting V. Georgiou with Leof. M. Alexandrou.
  • Nikolaou Germanou.
  • Agias Sofias, in the section from Egnatia Street to Patriarchou Dionysiou V.
  • Patriarchou Dionysiou V, in the section from Agias Sofias Street to Platonos Street.
  • Platonos, in the section from Patriarchou Dionysiou V to Egnatia Street.
  1. From 07:00, the circulation of all vehicles will be interrupted on the following streets:
  • Leoforo Megalou Alexandrou.
  • 30th October.
  • Kallidopoulou, in the section from Vas. Olgas Avenue to Leof. Megalou Alexandrou.
  • Stratigou Kakavou.
  • Athan. Soulioti, in the section from Kallidopoulou Street to Kakavou Street.
  • Leof. Stratou, in the section from 3rd September Street to Kautatzoglou Street.
  • Karaiskaki, in the section from Vas. Olgas Avenue to Leof. Megalou Alexandrou.
  • Nikolaou Germanou.

Depending on traffic conditions, traffic interruptions will also occur on the surrounding roads. For the above traffic regulations, a relevant Decision has been issued by the Traffic Directorate of Thessaloniki.
