Rebranding French-style for Alexis Tsipras by Publicis Communications

What did the photos taken on the plane by an indiscreet fellow passenger of the former Prime Minister reveal?

Newsroom March 28 12:18

Smartphones are a great convenience, but they are also a weapon in the hands of the indiscreet. The celebrities of this planet no longer have peace, not even on the plane, on the Athens – Paris flight.

The former Greek Prime Minister was traveling in the economy class of Aegean. Dressed in a Tsipras-style suit – jeans, shirt, and jacket – he was studying some papers when a fellow passenger raised his smartphone, camera on.

Two clicks and a moment of indiscretion later, everyone could see what the former prime minister was studying – a memo from Publicis Communications, one of the largest advertising companies in the world, based in Paris.

With the capabilities provided by technology, anyone can zoom in on the photo and…surprise: The French memo is titled “Rebranding – Alexis Tsipras.” Below it says “March 2024,” meaning it’s fresh. The chapters are illegible – technology has its limits.

A few days ago, in a freak coincidence, Kathimerini had written that Alexis Tsipras tells his people that “it is obvious that he needs a rebranding” – apparently, after the party’s conference failure, he wasted no time.
