Supreme Court: The real leader of the Spartans is Elias Kasidiaris

The criminal prosecution against the 11 Spartan MPs confirms their exclusion from the European elections - The reasoning of the 1st Chamber of the Supreme Court

Newsroom April 24 09:33

The real leader of the Spartans’ party is the imprisoned member of Golden Dawn (CHRYSI AVGI), Elias Kasidiaris, and the 11 Spartans’ MPs “actually offered their party as a cloak of a new political party to Elias Kasidiaris, making it easier for him to circumvent the eligibility restrictions imposed by the electoral legislation”, it is noted, among other things, in the decision declaring the parties and coalitions of parties that can participate in the upcoming European elections of 9 June 2024.

According to the decision of the A1 Political Chamber of the Supreme Court, one of the main reasons for the Spartans’ exclusion was the prosecution of 11 MPs for the criminal act of complicity in voter fraud, acts allegedly committed during the parliamentary elections of 25 – 6 -2023. The prosecution against the 11 was brought by the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Georgia Adilini.

Prominent members of the CHRYSI AVGI are currently Spartan MPs

Of the 122 pages of their ruling, 86 pages were devoted to the reasons why the Spartans party was cut, recounting the entire route, the action and statements of Ilias Kasidiaris about the Golden Dawn party, but also the later period after the founding of the Spartans, as well as his conviction.

Referring to the actions of Ilias Kasidiaris, the investigators point out that in all the closed meetings that he organised, “a large number of prominent members and candidates for parliament of the Golden Dawn participated, some of whom are now members of the Spartiates party.

And add the judges: “It is proven that Elias Kasidiaris, the real leader of the party “SPARTIATES”, which substitutes “Golden Dawn” never disapproved or dismantled, even in the least, his previous – as a leading member of Golden Dawn – hate speech, violent and racist action, within the framework of the criminal apparatus of the above party, opposing the institutional mechanisms of the Greek state, the intended policy of dismantling the democratic institutions of the rule of law and the disapproval of the rights and freedoms recognised by democracy.

“The party aims to weaken and dismantle the democratic constitution”

“In the present case, it appears that the party “SPARTIATES”, whose real leader is Elias Kasidiaris, sentenced to a total sentence of 13 years and 6 months imprisonment for the felony of joining and directing the criminal organisation “LAIKOS SYNDESMOS -CHRYSI AVGI” and the illegal possession of a firearm, which he is serving, promotes a policy that does not respect democracy and aims to weaken and dismantle the democratic constitution and the institutions of the rule of law, in particular by the use of violence or incitement to violence and the justification thereof, the promotion of totalitarian ideologies, the dissemination of racist and intolerant ideas and xenophobia, the condoning of crimes against humanity, hatred against individuals and groups, actions and declarations that threaten the peaceful coexistence of social groups in the country’.

And conclude the adjudicators:

“In consequence of the foregoing, the Spartiates party should not be declared and thereafter should not participate in the elections for the election of members of the European Parliament of 9-6-2024”.
