Thessaloniki: 47-year-old man who attacked his parents and locked them out of the house is sent to prison

The accused - a drug user - was found guilty of domestic violence against his 56-year-old mother and 73-year-old father

Newsroom May 17 06:00

A 47-year-old man who, at noon on Wednesday, attacked his parents and locked them outside their home in Thessaloniki is headed to jail.

The accused was found guilty of domestic violence against his 56-year-old mother and 73-year-old father and the Thessaloniki Single Plenary Court imposed an 18-month jail sentence. The judges decided that he should serve the six months and the rest of his sentence should be suspended for three years, so he is now in prison.

According to the indictment, the 47-year-old, who is a drug user, went to his family’s house and after having a verbal argument with his mother, then attacked her. He first pushed her from behind, causing her to lose her balance, and seconds later he slapped her in the face. The defendant’s father stepped in to stop him and was attacked himself.

The 47-year-old’s parents came out of the house to call the police and then he locked the door and shouted that it was his house without allowing them access.

“I don’t live with them, I go to the house every two to three weeks. I didn’t raise, hand, it’s all lies what they say because they don’t admit that the house is mine,” he said in his plea.

The defendant, who failed to convince the judges, made his way to prison.
