Lamia: National Food Authority (ΕFΕΤ) was to send a team to Giannitsis company before it burnt to the ground

An inspection would have been part of the investigation into the mass food poisoning of school children - An order from the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court has been issued

The president of the National Food Authority (ΕFΕΤ) revealed today that a team was scheduled to visit Giannitsis company in Lamia which produced the school meals causing food poisoning in 63 students from 7 schools in recent days. However, the president stated on Alpha television although an inspection team from ΕFΕΤ went to the facility on Saturday, the production unit was closed. They planned to revisit today, but yesterday’s developments with the devastating fire called off the inspection.

The factory responsible for the meals that led to widespread student poisoning has been completely destroyed. The Giannitsis company facilities in Lamia’s Industrial Park were consumed by flames around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday. Despite efforts by 40 firefighters, 18 vehicles, and a specialized firefighting vehicle, the fire rapidly expanded, resulting in the total destruction of the building and the company’s vehicles in the vicinity.
