The President of the Czech Republic had an accident with his motorcycle – He was slightly injured

Petr Pavel suffered a fall while riding on a closed track - "His injuries are not serious, but he will need to remain under observation for some time," his services explained

Czech President Petr Pavel was admitted to a Prague hospital yesterday (Thursday) after being involved in a motorcycle accident, however his injuries are not “serious”, his services said via X.

Mr Pavel, 62, president of the Czech Republic since March 2023, will be hospitalised at Prague’s military university hospital for an unspecified period of time.

“His injuries are not serious, but he will need to remain under observation for some time,” his services explained.

According to the Czech press, the head of state suffered a fall while moving on an indoor track.

Police are not conducting an investigation into the accident.

A retired Czech army general who served in NATO, Mr Pavel is a passionate motorcyclist who currently rides a powerful BMW R1200 GS. Last summer newspapers published a photo of him behind the wheel – without a helmet.
