Erdogan: New provocation on the day of the Fall of Constantinople – “The faith demonstrated by Mehmed inspires us”

"It was one of the most glorious victories in our history," stated Turkey's Vice President, Fuat Oktay

Newsroom May 29 01:20

New provocation by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the day of the Fall of Constantinople.

In his message, Erdogan congratulates on the 571st anniversary of the Fall of Constantinople and speaks of a “blessed victory.”

As President Recep Tayyip Erdogan specifically stated: “I congratulate the 571st anniversary of the conquest of Constantinople. To understand the spirit of the conquest, it is necessary to know well the way in which this blessed victory was achieved. After the conquest, which allowed our beloved nation to take root on the continent with the military intelligence, determination, and courage of our heroic army, Constantinople became a center where different religions and cultures lived together thanks to the tolerance and fair governance of the great statesman Fatih Sultan Mehmet.”

President Erdogan emphasized that Constantinople, which carries the traces of its history to this day and is a source of inspiration for artists, is among the most popular cities in the world as a business, economic, commercial, artistic, cultural, and religious center of Turkey, and added: “The faith, determination, and courage shown by Fatih Sultan Mehmet and our heroic soldiers during the conquest of Constantinople inspire us today to achieve the goal of the Turkish Century. On the occasion of the 571st anniversary of the conquest of Constantinople, I remember with compassion, respect, and gratitude Fatih Sultan Mehmet and our dear martyrs who left us this unique city of global beauty and greet all our citizens with my warmest feelings.”
