Mitsotakis on Kasselakis: We once had a Thessaloniki program; I hope we don’t have any Thessaloniki origins

We have created 400,000 jobs, the prime minister said - I will use the influence I have on Ursula von der Leyen

Newsroom June 3 02:51

In an interview with SKAI 100.3, Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed the government’s recent initiatives and the ongoing political discourse. He highlighted various governmental initiatives over the past year, such as judicial reforms, efforts against tax evasion, interventions in football, and addressing school violence. He stressed the government’s commitment to its reform agenda.

Mitsotakis underscored the fight against unemployment, citing the creation of 400,000 jobs, many of which are full-time positions, and emphasized the decreasing reliance on minimum wage jobs due to falling unemployment rates.

Regarding Stefanos Kasselakis, Mitsotakis criticized what he perceived as a theatrical approach, stating that since assuming the presidency of SYRIZA, Kasselakis had a moral obligation to disclose his assets. Mitsotakis expressed hopes for a cooperative approach rather than political confrontations akin to past experiences in Thessaloniki.

Mitsotakis urged Kasselakis to articulate his vision for Europe and accused him of lacking concrete proposals. He also questioned Kasselakis about potential Eurogroup affiliations. Mitsotakis defended his own background, stating it had been thoroughly investigated during his tenure, and lamented the targeting of his wife by previous SYRIZA governments.

Regarding Tempi, Mitsotakis addressed concerns, noting ongoing legal proceedings with multiple defendants and emphasizing the expedited investigative process.
