Giorgos Mazonakis: I now feel free, he says of the legal dispute with his sister – What he asks from her

His friends ask him how he feels about what has been going on in recent weeks - Don't worry, he replies

Newsroom June 17 03:50

Since last Saturday, some of Giorgos Mazonakis’ friends have learned about his recent decision to continue the legal battle with his sister, Vaso.

The singer has been staying in his renovated house in the village of Pefki, Crete, choosing to distance himself from Athens for this new announcement. Friends who inquired about his feelings regarding the recent events, and who expressed their concern over his conflict with his sister, received an unexpected response.

“I now feel that I am free. Do not be distressed,” said the popular performer, signaling his intentions in Monday’s announcement.

Mazonakis demands that the outgoing management, specifically his sister Vaso, provide all financial data related to his artistic activities (e.g., performances, concerts, recording profits) within a predetermined timeframe. If these demands are not met, he plans to proceed with an accountability lawsuit to initiate a court-ordered management audit of his company.

If Vaso does not comply with this new out-of-court letter, she must immediately provide the requested financial data, as this has been the main point of contention in their case.

Up until 2019-2020, Vaso was Giorgos’ most trusted person, managing his finances within their jointly established company. Their relationship’s breakdown had been an open secret in the industry, as Vaso was often seen accompanying Giorgos at his performances until four years ago. Her sudden absence sparked much speculation.

Despite attempts to resolve their financial dispute out of court, including an injunction over a residence in Mykonos, Vaso did not take the necessary steps to reconcile. Giorgos had hoped she would initiate actions to peacefully resolve their issues, but these efforts either did not happen or failed.

The closing of his statement expresses Giorgos’ regret and bitterness over the conflict with someone so close to him, highlighting the personal and professional toll it has taken. He reflects on the frustration of trusting someone who ultimately only saw him as an object of exploitation.
