A total of 33 fires occurred in the last 24 hours in the country, of which 25 were immediately extinguished at their initial stage, while firefighters are battling as many as 8.

Battle with flames takes place in a forest area in Orthovouni Kalambaka, near houses. At 17:22 a “112” message was issued to evacuate residents from Orthovouni to Trygona. At total of 72 firefighters with 3 land teams, 19 vehicles, 5 aircraft and 3 helicopters operate on the scene.

Also in progress is a fire in the Drymo Oraiokastro Thessaloniki in agricultural land, while strong winds are blowing in the area. 20 firefighters, 8 vehicles and 1 helicopter are operating. 20 firefighters, 20 helicopters and 1 helicopter are operating there.

A few minutes after 10am a fire broke out in Big Cave in Monemvasia in low vegetation. 47 firefighters, 1 hiking team, 15 vehicles, 2 aircraft, and 1 helicopter were involved in the extinguishing efforts. According to the Fire Department, the fire has been contained.

At the same time, a fire broke out in low vegetation in the area of Tzardavella Aspropyrgos. 34 firefighters, 2 hiking teams, 10 vehicles and 1 helicopter operated. The fire has been brought under partial control.

At 11 am, in the area of Three Monasteries of Rethymno, a fire broke out in an agroforestry area and 24 minutes later a 112 information message was issued for residents. 18 firefighters, 1 hiking team, 8 vehicles and 2 helicopters were engaged. The fire has been brought under partial control.

At 1 pm a fire broke out in a forest area in Drosopigi in Afidnes. 37 firefighters, 3 hiking teams and 8 vehicles were engaged. It is under partial control.

At 14:33 a fire broke out in an abandoned building in Moschato, at the junction of Kefallinia and Taxiarchon streets. 28 firefighters with 9 vehicles, including one armored vehicle, were engaged. At 15:10 a 112 message was issued to inform citizens about the smoke. There are no more active outbreaks.
