Hellenic Air Force: the 20th F-16 Viper was delivered

83 F-16 aircraft upgraded to Viper configuration

The 20th F-16 aircraft upgraded to the “Viper” configuration was delivered to the Air Force by Lockheed Martin and the Hellenic Aviation Industry (HAI).

“Lockheed Martin is proud to partner with HAI to upgrade the F-16 to the advanced Viper configuration as part of our 21st Century Security solutions for the Hellenic Air Force,” said OJ Sanchez, vice president of Lockheed Martin’s Integrated Fighter Group. “These upgrades feature advanced capabilities that enhance Greece’s role in NATO and its interoperability, as well as in peacekeeping and deterrence operations throughout Europe.”

84 F-16s to be upgraded by 2027

Lockheed Martin, in partnership with Hellenic Aerospace Industries (HAI), is upgrading 83 F-16s to the Viper configuration, with the goal of completing the program by 2027.

Work on the aircraft is being carried out with guidance from Lockheed Martin teams.

16 more aircraft are in the production line being upgraded to Viper configuration, additional aircraft are expected to be delivered during the year.

According to Lockheed Martin, the partnership enhances Greece’s interoperability with NATO and includes advanced safety and systems enhancements such as the APG-83 radar and ground collision avoidance system, and the company cites over $1 billion in economic benefits to the Greek defense industry and the Hellenic Air Force through this long-term partnership.
