Psychiko: The 44-year-old was searching the internet for the surveyor – What his mobile phones revealed

A photo of a weapon similar to the one he used to kill Panagiotis Stathis was found on one of the phones

Newsroom July 19 09:25

There are significant developments in the murder case of 54-year-old surveyor Panagiotis Stathis, who was shot in cold blood outside his company in Psychiko.

As revealed today by protothema.gr, a search of the mobile phones in the possession of the 44-year-old man who was arrested and remanded in custody for the crime revealed that he was making searches around the victim’s life.

Specifically, well-informed sources said, the 44-year-old was allegedly making inquiries about Stathis’ place of residence, whether he was going to move and where (at the time it was rumored that he had changed houses), while he was also allegedly looking for the exact address of the victim’s company.

At the same time, according to the same sources, that search allegedly turned up a photo of a gun on one of the arrested man’s devices. It is a handgun that resembles the one used to commit the crime with investigators still unable to say for sure if it is the weapon of the crime.

In addition, as it became known on Wednesday a photograph of Panagiotis Stathis was found on one of the 44-year-old’s cellphones. According to sources with knowledge of the case, the photo was allegedly taken by the 44-year-old himself after a meeting he had with a businessman in Mykonos. The picture shows Stathis being in a shop on the island and eating with other people.

Finally, as protothema.gr is able to know, the results of a search for gunpowder carried out on the 44-year-old’s gloves and jacket were negative.
