Two different faces are expected to show up in the next few days. According to the forecasts so far, heat with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees in some places are expected for today and tomorrow with winds weakening, but the weather scene is expected to change again from Sunday, when there will be a drop in temperature, strong instability, while the winds will make their appearance again.

Weakening winds today also reduce the fire danger category from 4 to 3, with three Districts in the red.

Specifically, according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr), high fire risk (risk category 3) is expected for today (02/08) in the following areas:

Region of Attica (including the island of Kythera)
Region of Central Greece (Boeotia, Evia)
(including the region of Kythera (including the island of Kythera)).
Region of Peloponnese (Corinthia, Argolida

The weather today

Clear weather is expected in general with local clouds in the continental highlands during the warm hours of the day.

The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from 14 to 34 degrees, in the rest of northern Greece from 14 to 37-38 degrees, in Thessaly from 15 to 38-39 degrees, in Epirus from 15 to 35 degrees, in the rest of the continental parts from 14 to 37-38 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 18 to 35 degrees Celsius, in the Aegean islands and in Crete from 19 to 30-32 degrees (locally in southern Crete up to 34-35 degrees Celsius), while in the islands of the eastern Aegean the maximum temperatures will reach 36-37 degrees Celsius in some places.

The weather in the south-eastern part of the island will be at 36.5 degrees Celsius and in the south-eastern part of the island will be at 36.5 degrees Celsius.

In the Aegean Sea the winds will blow north-northwest with intensities up to 5 and locally 6 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea the winds will blow from the west with intensities up to 3-4 and locally 5 Beaufort.

Generally clear weather with partly cloudy in the continental areas in the afternoon – afternoon hours when in the north, mainly in the mountains, local rain and possibly isolated thunderstorms will occur.
Winds in the western and southern seas will blow from westerly directions and in the east from northerly directions 3 to 4 and locally 5 Beaufort.
The temperature will rise slightly further, mainly on the mainland. It will reach 36 to 39 and locally 40 degrees Celsius in the mainland and the Ionian islands, 34 to 36 and locally 37 degrees Celsius in the eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese and Crete and 31 to 33 and locally 34 degrees Celsius in the rest of the island country.

Generally clear weather with occasionally increasing clouds in the mainland and Crete in the midday – afternoon hours, when local rain and mainly in the central and northern mainland will occur. Improvement is expected from the evening hours.
Winds will blow from the north at 3 to 4 and locally 5 Beaufort and in the southern seas from the west with the same intensity.
The temperature will drop slightly in the north. It will reach 35 to 37 and locally 38 degrees Celsius in the mainland and the Ionian islands, 34 to 36 and locally 37 degrees Celsius in the eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese and Crete and 31 to 33 degrees Celsius in the rest of the island country.
