Stefanos Kasselakis: He and Tyler opened an online wedding registry and are collecting money – What SYRIZA sources say

They collect donations from 10 to 2,500 dollars on the honeyfund.com platform - Koumoundourou sources confirm and clarify that these are wedding gifts and add that the total amount will be published at the end for transparency reasons

Newsroom August 17 01:38

Through a public website, Stefanos Kasselakis and Tyler Macbeth are collecting from friends and relatives monetary gifts for their wedding, which will take place at the end of August in Chania.

In the last few hours it became known that on the honeyfund.com page, those interested can deposit a sum of money and leave a comment or a wish for the couple, with the issue gaining momentum on social media.

As the description of this website shows, Honeyfund isa gift registry that takes honeymoon trips allowing couples to “experience the experience with the support of their friends and family, free of charge.”

The same description states that Honeyfund is considered the most trusted honeymoon and fundraising site, having raised a total of nearly $1 billion in gifts.

What Koumoundourou sources say

After the comments on social media, SYRIZA sources responded on the issue, saying that “this is about the Wedding Gift (as for example in Greece happens with envelopes or deposits in bank accounts) and not a honeymoon“. In this context, the same sources point out that “it is customary in America for those who wish to deposit money in lieu of a gift on digital platforms, which also operate publicly. In fact, the amount collected is publicly listed at the end for transparency.”

Friends of the couple leave comments on the website

In addition, it seems that those who have offered a donation to the couple for their honeymoon are also leaving a comment with their wishes. Among them, Meta Vice President John Allen Thomas, who had accompanied Mr Kasselakis during his visit to the Greek Parliament, appears.

Thomas wrote the couple the following message: “Tyler, Stefanos – We hope this gift will help you find a few moments where politics is not the main topic of conversation, unless of course you are discussing the best beaches. Congratulations! Think of this as a small contribution to your personal happiness, Stefanos. We’re sure this will have bipartisan support from you and Tyler! We hope your honeymoon is filled with “election triumphs” of relaxation, adventure and joy. Love, John Allen & Adam.”

Among others, psychologist Dimitris Papadimitriadis commented: “To the dynamic duo, Stephanie and Tyler, we wish your marriage to be full of passion, brilliance and a love that transcends even the most heated political debates. May your love inspire us daily. We wish you endless creativity and joy in your life together. Dimitris & Kostas.”

The wedding of Stefanos Kasselakis

It is recalled that the president of SYRIZA and his partner Tyler Macbeth were married in New York on October 19, 2023, while at the end of August they will organize a wedding ceremony on Greek soil after the passage of the bill on same-sex marriages.

As shown in the invitation that was made public months ago, Stefanos Kasselakis and Tyler Macbeth are inviting their loved ones to attend in Chania from August 28 to 31. “We are so excited to invite all of you to one of our favorite places to celebrate this special day!” the couple’s online invitation reads.

In his place of origin, Stefanos Kasselakis will welcome about 150 people, including relatives and friends of himself and his husband, Tyler Macbeth, from both Greece and abroad.

From 28 to 31 August, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Cretan hospitality in a four-day event designed by Kasselakis himself. The centrepiece of the events is a wedding party that will take place on August 29 at the Botanical Garden of Crete in Chania, one of the couple’s favourite destinations.

The garden is located at the foot of the White Mountains, in the village of Fourne, near Skine, and spans a lush 200-acre area, filled with herbs, plants and animals of the Cretan land.
