Stabbed in the head while celebrating – Turmoil at the Sardine festival in Preveza

Young man is the attacker - The reason for the assault remains unknown - "He had lost a lot of blood, I was trying to keep him conscious because his eyes were closing," says the lifeguard who saved him

Newsroom September 2 11:26

A man was stabbed twice in the head and neck by an unknown young man for reasons that are still unclear while he was enjoying the Sardine Festival in Preveza with his family.

This unprecedented incident for the city occurred in front of hundreds of people attending the popular festival. According to reports, the attacker is a young man who stabbed the victim twice with a knife without any prior public conflict between them.

When the bloody incident was noticed, panic ensued. The injured man, according to reports, received first aid from a lifeguard who was present, as well as from local municipal staff who called the coast guard and an ambulance from EKAV, which transported him to the Preveza Hospital.

Lifeguard Elena Soldatou, speaking to onprevezanews.gr, said, “I was leaving and noticed the victim walking towards the amusement park. He seemed stained with wine, so I asked him if he was okay. I dropped my bike and saw he was bleeding…”

Elena’s quick actions saved the man’s life, as she had a first aid kit with her that contained everything needed to immediately provide first aid.

“I stopped the bleeding from both wounds (head, neck). He had lost a lot of blood, and I was trying to keep him conscious because his eyes were closing. I called EKAV and stayed with him until the ambulance arrived,” adds the young lifeguard.
