Political Landscape Shifts: New Democracy Leads with 27.2%, PASOK Rises to Second at 11.8%

GPO poll reveals shifting dynamics post-PM's announcements at Thessaloniki Expo - 57% of SYRIZA voters support the motion against Kasselakis

The political landscape, shaped by the Prime Minister’s announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and developments within SYRIZA and PASOK, is captured in a major GPO poll presented on Star’s main news broadcast.

In voting intentions, the ruling party holds a 15.4-point lead over PASOK, with SYRIZA in third place:
New Democracy: 27.2%, PASOK: 11.8%, SYRIZA: 9.3%, KKE: 8.3%, Hellenic Solution: 8.1%, Voice of Logic: 4.1%, Course of Freedom: 3.5%, NIKI: 2.7%, New Left: 2%. Notably, the company did not provide a calculation based on valid votes or a vote estimate.

Tsipras Dominates SYRIZA Leadership

Among SYRIZA voters, 40% disagree or somewhat disagree with the no-confidence motion against Stefanos Kasselakis, which led to new internal elections. Meanwhile, 57.4% agree or somewhat agree with it.

SYRIZA voters view Alexis Tsipras as the most suitable leader with 42.8%, followed by Stefanos Kasselakis at 17.9%. Third is Socrates Famellos at 13.7%, with Pavlos Polakis (7.4%), Olga Gerovasili (4.7%), Nikolas Farantouris (2.3%), and Apostolos Gletsos (1.2%) following.

PASOK Leadership

Among PASOK voters, 35.2% believe Nikos Androulakis should be re-elected as President, while 59% prefer someone else to take the leadership.

Calls for Stricter Immigration Policies

A significant 78.7% of respondents believe immigration policy should become stricter. Additionally, 83.6% support the ban on mobile phones in schools.

Evaluation of the Prime Minister’s Announcements

Regarding the Prime Minister’s announcements at TIF, 39.2% view them positively, while 57.4% rate them negatively.

Key Priorities for Citizens

Citizens, by 61.7%, see tackling inflation as the government’s top priority, followed by improving the healthcare system at 43.2%.

However, 65.7% judge the government’s measures to combat inflation negatively, while 33.3% view them positively.
