Nea Smyrni: Investigations are underway into the death of the 46-year-old man found dead from stabbings in his home

All Options Remain Open as Authorities Await Coroner's Final Report

Newsroom September 13 03:39

The case of the man who was found dead in his home in Nea Smyrni with police officers conducting the investigation trying through statements and evidence collection to clarify what exactly has happened, what preceded the man’s death.

According to reports, the 46-year-old, who reportedly had mental retardation, was staying with his sister, also AmeA and who herself claims to be a Special Olympics athlete. When he was discovered he had abrasions to his neck as well as a sharp-force trauma next to his belly button. However still the circumstances under which he died have not been clarified with investigators leaving all possibilities open.

Although the first image suggests murder, still police officers are not convinced and are awaiting the conclusion of the medical examiner who will determine the cause of death as there is a possibility that the man’s abdominal wound is old and not related to his death.

It will be recalled that the 46-year-old man was found deadby members of ECAB who were called to the scene by the social service of the municipality, which had been contacted earlier by his sister.

It should be noted that the 46-year-old was recently hospitalized for an unknown reason at the Kratiko Nikias from which he was discharged just yesterday Thursday (12/9).

A relative says the two siblings have been left alone since their parents died. “First their mum and then their dad left suddenly and they were left on their own. An aunt would come somewhere, see them, take them to the village and they wouldn’t say a word,” he said. Their mother died 6-7 years ago and their father died 4 years ago. Asked if there was any trouble, she denied it, saying she had never heard anything about it.

Another neighbor said the two brothers lived for many years in Nea Smyrni, were very loving children and never bothered anyone, another neighbor said. The girl was known to Panionios, where she was known and had never exhibited any strange behaviour.
