Detected burglary of a jewelry store with loot worth 300.000 euros

Visual footage obtained from nearby cameras helped identify the perpetrators

Newsroom September 25 09:20

Visual footage secured from nearby surveillance cameras helped security officers identify the criminals who broke into a jewelry store in the area of Agios Nikolaos in Kavala and snatched gold jewelry worth more than 300,000 euros in the early hours of August 22.

These were three foreigners, one of whom was arrested at noon on Monday in a settlement in Kavala as, apart from the warrant issued for the theft in question, a European Arrest Warrant was pending against him by the Bulgarian authorities for organized armed robbery. In his house and vehicle, 4,000 euros, a fake identity card, and two fake driving licenses were seized.

Police also found the private car used in the burglary, which the perpetrators had stolen on July 2 and had put license plates on it that they had stolen from another vehicle. The loot from the burglary has not been found and it is estimated that the thugs fled to Bulgaria, where local authorities are looking for the two accomplices of the foreigner, who was taken to the prosecutor of Kavala’s Prosecutor’s Office with the case against all three for grand theft, theft and theft of a wheeled vehicle.
