Illegal teachers’ strike on Wednesday 23 October

The Athens Court of First Instance vindicated the Ministry of Education which appealed against the IOC

The 24-hour teachers’ strike called by TOE for tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, has been ruled illegal.

According to reports, the Minor Court of First Instance of Athens has vindicated the Ministry of Education, which had appealed to it, prohibiting the IOC from holding the strike, with the threat of a 3,000 euro fine for each violation of the ruling.

The strike had been called for tomorrow and involved teachers and kindergarten teachers. The DOE is demanding, among other things, wage increases, the abolition of evaluation, a reduction in the number of students per class to 15 for kindergarten and first and second grade and 20 in the older classes, and improved building infrastructure in schools.
