Weather: strong northerly winds and chilly in the morning and evening hours – When are showers expected

At 100 km/h yesterday the maximum wind gust - The forecast of EMY until Sunday

Newsroom November 6 07:14

Greece is set to experience a significant weather shift as a cold front begins to move across the country, bringing cooler temperatures and increased rainfall in the second half of November. While weather conditions remain mild for now, featuring sunny skies, comfortable autumn temperatures, and brisk northerly winds, a change is on the horizon.

Upcoming Weather Changes and Rainfall

Starting in mid-November, meteorologists anticipate a breakdown of the anticyclone system currently keeping weather stable. According to Klearchos Marousakis, a meteorologist for OPEN, this shift will allow consecutive waves of unsettled weather to sweep through Greece. Sakis Arnaoutoglou also forecasts rainy periods between November 11 and 16, especially in western regions.

Thodoros Kolydas, the director of the National Weather Service, provided a forecast highlighting potential rainfall across Greece by November 10-11. However, Athens is not expected to see much precipitation in the coming days.

High Winds Reached 100 km/h

On November 5, strong winds reached speeds of 100 km/h in Paximada Karystos, confirming earlier predictions. High wind gusts were also recorded at several weather stations across the country, underscoring the strength of the northerly winds.
