Greek parliamentary police officer remanded in custody for alleged child abuse case

He denied the charges – Requests a psychiatric evaluation of his wife

Newsroom December 3 03:51

The parliamentary police officer accused of raping his children was sentenced to pretrial detention after his plea.

In a statement, the police officer’s lawyer, Othonas Papadopoulos, stated, among other things: “This case has a long way to go. We will take immediate action to prove the truth. Our first request is to conduct a psychiatric examination of the complainant.

The accused denies the act. It is astonishing how a person who works in the Greek police and has served in the riot police allegedly confessed to committing certain acts out of fear of someone else. It is also astonishing how it is possible for young children to live in a situation in their home like the one described and not have confessed the slightest thing to a friend, professor, or teacher. The case is well underway, and we are determined to cover it.”

The serious indictment

It is noted that the police officer is accused of rape, rape of a minor in succession and in series, abuse of minors by a relative in succession and in series, sexual acts between relatives against minors by ascendants in succession and in series, pornography of minors, domestic bodily harm in succession, domestic violence against minors in succession and in series, domestic unlawful violence in the presence of minors in succession, domestic unlawful violence against a minor in succession and in series, carrying and using weapons in succession.

Dimoglidou: The children reported sexual and physical abuse by both parents

ELAS Press Spokesperson Constantia Dimoglidou spoke earlier about the case of the police officer who served in Parliament and sexually abused his children, while also beating his wife.

Mrs. Dimoglidou said that the police officer’s wife is being treated as a victim of chronic abuse, both sexual and physical.

As she told SKAI: “I do not know if anything will come out against her during the investigation and if any charges will be brought against her for any offense, because she herself states that she essentially participated in some acts against the children.”

“Everything that the mother mentions in her complaint is unfortunately confirmed by the children. We are talking about extensive abuse from a young age by both parents. I clarify that the mother essentially states that this man forcibly urged and forced her to commit indecent acts, and the children confirm this with their statements,” she then emphasized.

At the same time, she pointed out that we do not know how mentally strong this woman was throughout her life with this man, to resist what he forced her to do, while at the same time she noted that there was not the slightest indication from her professional presence at the Service that she was experiencing such a nightmare.

“Although this woman moved around police officers every day, of course she could have asked for help at any time, she herself knew the procedures as a police officer, but unfortunately she never contacted the Police or anyone close to her to convey the information that something was happening,” said the ELAS press spokeswoman.
