Burglars climbing on balconies and emptying houses in northeast Attica – Video coverage

Six people were arrested, they had opened more than 20 houses

Newsroom December 5 12:32

Video coverage of the action of two gangs that operated in northeastern Attica and had “emptied” more than 20 houses were secured and presented by protothema.gr.

The action of the organisations was deconstructed by officers of the Northeast Attica Security Sub-Directorate and the Maroussi Security Department, with police handcuffing a total of six people.

As it emerged from the investigation, the members of the two organizations were based in Zefiri and Ano Liosia and operated in a similar manner. They would walk around the neighborhoods, locate target houses, and then climb onto balconies, break down balcony doors or windows, and loot.

Of course, they used lookouts and, as an additional security measure, members of one of the gangs also used ghost numbers, i.e. telephone connections registered to details of non-existent foreigners.

A total of 23 cases of burglary and theft were solved, while, as it subsequently emerged, most of those arrested had been previously employed by the authorities for similar offenses.
