Murder of Turks in Glyfada: They are still looking for a gunman and his accomplice – They are looking for a connection with earlier cases

Two Turks have been arrested - One of them had declared himself a follower of Gülen & had applied for asylum

Marinos Aliferis, Panagiotis Vlachoutsakos December 10 08:05

The Greek FBI investigators are trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle of the mafia-style execution of two Turks that took place on Monday morning (9/12) in Glyfada, by in order to get on the trail of the remaining perpetrators and shed light on the motive of the attack.

Two people have already been arrested in the case and, according to police sources, two more are wanted. As for those arrested, they are a 22-year-old and a 26-year-old, both Turkish of Kurdish origin. One of them is alleged to be one of the gunmen, while the second is said to have had a supporting role. Both arrived in the country illegally via Evros, and one of them, when identified, he had declared himself as a follower of Gulen and had applied for asylum.

Regarding their associates who are wanted, reports say one of them was also carrying a gun with the second one also having a supporting role.

It’s yet another case that gives off a Turkish mafia scent and strongly resembles both the execution of the six Turks in Lutsa and the murder of a 39-year-old compatriot last November in Kypseli. Both cases have a lot in common with yesterday’s crime.

On the one hand, in all cases the victims were Turks. On the other hand, the perpetrators acted in much the same way. They had scouted the spot from the previous days and on the day of the attack they set up a camp, waited patiently for the victims and when they found the right moment they started shooting even in the middle of the street without considering anything.

In this case the two men who were shot dead were attacked while inside a OPAP agency and then out on the street, in front of the astonished eyes of passers-by and children. The two had reportedly been moving around the area for the past week as they had rented an Airbnb apartment there.

Where investigations are being directed

Given the fact that this is scores settling , police are turning the page on past cases looking for a connection.

According to reports, the case that has mainly been put under their microscope is the murder of the 39-year-old Turkish man that took place early last November in Kypseli.

The victim was then shot more than nine times as he was in the process of parking his car with the perpetrators, two in number, going up in smoke. A subsequent investigation revealed that the victim was involved in drug cases and the perpetrators are still being sought.
