Crash of an aircraft with 110 passengers in Kazakhstan (videos)

A passenger aircraft with 110 people on board crashed on Christmas Day near Aktau, Kazakhstan.

Russian news agencies reported that the aircraft was operated by Azerbaijan Airlines and had departed from Baku, heading to Grozny in Chechnya, Russia. However, due to fog in Grozny, the flight was diverted.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the aircraft, which was en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau.

Kazakh media reported that there were 105 passengers and five crew members on board the plane. Reuters was unable to confirm this information.

A national operations center has been established at the Ministry of Emergency Situations to coordinate the operation.

Fifty-two firefighters have been dispatched to the site, and according to the latest reports from local media, six people have been rescued.
