PASOK President Nikos Androulakis commented on the nationwide protests regarding the Tempi tragedy through a Facebook post. He emphasized that “Justice and truth are the oxygen,” underlining the demand for accountability and transparency.

“All responsible parties must be exposed. We need answers from those who sealed off the crime scene in an attempt to cover up this atrocity. They must answer for the delayed actions and the disappearance of critical evidence, such as video footage and other crucial material, pivotal to this tragedy—this immense crime. Those responsible must be held to account and brought to justice for the crime they committed against the Greek people and the Greek youth. Such tragedies and crimes must never happen again,” Koutsoumbas emphasized.
He concluded by stating:
“On this front, we will stand united—the entire people, all the youth—fighting until the real culprits are punished, whether they are part of the government, the state apparatus, or anyone else with any level of responsibility for this tragedy.”
Incidents Now Unfolding at Syntagma Square
A rally for the Tempi tragedy is currently taking place at Syntagma, while more than 110 similar events have been planned across the country.
There are now over 110 other events in the region.
As highlighted in the statement posted by the relatives of the victims on social media, they call for an immediate investigation into the causes of the tragedy and justice.
Due to the rally, Syntagma and Amalias Avenue from Sygrou are closed.
Rallies have been planned in other cities as well.
The city is also closed for meetings in other cities.
“Today all Greeks gathered to declare that this crime will not go unpunished. This time those responsible, no matter how high up they are, will be punished as they should be,” said Maria Karystianou, who lost her daughter in Tempi.
“Normally we should be here every day, let this be the beginning of the end. I am moved by the people who have left their daily lives to join their voices with ours, you can’t imagine how much strength that gives us. You see an unstoppable and unending struggle. Those who are responsible should resign and come to face us,” said Nikos Plakias, the father of the twin girls who perished in the Tethys.
