Dafni: Inmate who killed patient remains at large – Stabbed her in the neck with a piece of broken mirror

A manhunt is underway to locate the perpetrator of the brutal murder – The 47-year-old shattered a mirror inside a bathroom and used a shard to attack

Newsroom February 19 12:50

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) investigation is in full swing to track down the 47-year-old man who, in the early hours of Wednesday, fatally wounded a 44-year-old patient with a piece of glass at the Attica Psychiatric Hospital in Dafni.

According to reports, the 47-year-old broke a mirror inside a bathroom and used a glass shard to attack the woman, striking her in the neck.

After committing the crime, the perpetrator reportedly walked out of the room where the tragedy took place, announced what he had done to the stunned medical staff, and escaped. It remains unclear which direction he fled in, leaving a critical unanswered question: Is the 47-year-old hiding somewhere within the hospital’s facilities, or has he managed to escape and is now somewhere in Attica?

It should be noted that this is not the first time this individual has come to the attention of authorities for homicide. As it has now emerged, he had killed another woman approximately a year ago—this time at the psychiatric clinic in Corfu. This was the very reason he was transferred to Dafni last November.

At that time, the perpetrator had murdered a 63-year-old female patient by delivering 12 blows to her face and neck. A police unit had arrived at the scene and arrested him. The man suffers from bipolar disorder and psychosis.

The initial forensic examination back then determined that the woman’s death resulted from 12 strikes to the face and neck area, inflicted with a pen and a wooden knife.

Lastly, it should be noted that the 47-year-old has been repeatedly hospitalized in psychiatric clinics in the past.
