Mitsotakis at the Flyover: “The government continues to implement its governmental work unhindered”

"Our emphasis on infrastructure projects was one of the central commitments we made to the Greek people," the Prime Minister said

Newsroom February 19 12:56

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in Thessaloniki and he visited the construction site where the Flyover work is taking place.

“The government continues unabated in the implementation of its government project and the significant emphasis we are placing on infrastructure projects was one of the central commitments we gave to the Greek people in 2023 when they entrusted us again with the responsibility of governing the country. This is our job, we continue and we are evaluated for our work every day by the citizens and of course at the end of the four-year period, an end of four years which will coincide with the delivery of this very important infrastructure project,” the Prime Minister said.

He pointed out that the Flyover will provide significant traffic relief to Thessaloniki’s ring road and noted: “It is a project that we have developed, tendered, and are now implementing. It is just one of the many important interventions that our government has initiated in Thessaloniki to substantially improve the quality of life for citizens. We have stated that the government’s emphasis on public transportation is non-negotiable.”

At the same time, he emphasized that with the completion of the metro extension to Kalamaria, the procurement of new urban buses, and other traffic interventions, Thessaloniki will become a more livable city, enjoyed by both its residents and tourists visiting it.

Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras, stated that the Flyover is currently at 20% completion and will be delivered in May 2027. The metro extension to Kalamaria will be completed by November 2025.
