A truck fell into the sea, at the port of Corfu, on the morning of Tuesday 25 February. The driver was recovered unharmed, while the vehicle had already sunk.

The Coast Guard’s statement

“In the early morning hours of today, the Port Authority of Corfu was informed of a fall of an F.I.C. vehicle in the sea in the area of the new port. Officials of the Port Authority immediately went to the spot, where they found the 73-year-old domestic driver in the sea and recovered him on land, in good health, while the vehicle had already sunk. According to the 73-year-old, he was the sole occupant of the truck. With the assistance of a private diver and a towed vehicle, the vehicle was recovered and no marine pollution was observed from the incident. Preliminary investigation is carried out by the Central Port Authority of Corfu “.
