The vast majority of people blame all the parties that have governed over the past 25 years for the state of the rail network and the tragedy in Tempι, according to the latest Public Issue survey.

Specifically, 70% of respondents believe that both New Democracy, SYRIZA and PASOK bear significant responsibility for the deterioration of the OSE and the poor safety of the railways. The corresponding figure in 2023 was 64%.

At the same time, 76% of citizens believe that there has been an attempted cover-up by the government in the Tempi case, with 61% saying they are absolutely convinced of this.

According to the survey, 38% of citizens feel resentment again two years after the accident, with the percentage approaching the 40% recorded immediately after the accident in March 2023.

Meanwhile, citizens have mobilised en masse recently, with 56% saying they had participated in demonstrations held in memory of the victims.

The debate over the responsibility for the privatization of the OSE continues, with 60% of respondents believing that privatization played a significant role in creating the conditions that led to the tragedy. The corresponding figure in 2023 was 58%, indicating that this view is gradually strengthening.

In the political scene, Maria Karystianou’s popularity stands out, as 67% of citizens have a positive opinion of her, while 26% have a negative opinion.

Regarding the political consequences, 61% of respondents believe that there is a question of the Prime Minister’s resignation due to the tragedy, while 35% disagree with this opinion.

Finally, Zoe Konstantopoulou’s ‘Eleftherias’ is recording strong momentum, as it is being singled out by public opinion as the party that exercises the most effective opposition.
